Casears Windsor – weekend getaway

We decided to have a little get away in the middle of this long holiday weekend and our travels just took us a couple of hours up the highway to Caesars Windsor Casino and Hotel. We had given thought to doing Niagara Casino but Windsor one out being so close and just to have a day/night away and return to get ready for the week ahead.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived as its been many years since I was last there and that was lonnnnng before Caesars took ownership of it.  I have to say that I was more than pleasantly surprised and it was so great how it felt worlds away from everything.  If you’ve ever been to Caesars in Vegas you would be able to see they have really done a great job to give Windsor the same architectural appearance, ambiance and overall great experience.Casears WindsorWhen you first come in there is this grand scale lobby with the massive pillars, ornate statues and gold embellishments again to give it that same look.  I kept finding myself having to stop and look or just Id be bumping into everyone as I kept looking up.  BalconyStatue 1StatueThey have a few really great places to eat and/or grab or a drink.  We spent some time at the “Vu” bar which is a beautiful spot and reflective of its name is the fabulous vies you have their second floor location.   They have a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that offer an amazing panoramic view of the Detroit skyline and Windsor riverfront. Then of course you’ve got the casino and it insane how close this bar is to the casino floor and yet the sound proofing they have done is spectacular.  You would think that sitting there you would be on sensory overload and  not able to just enjoy the bar but not at all…..it’s perfect. The VuIf you are looking for a restaurant to have an “adult” dinner at Neros is it.  Although it’s at a higher price point it is undoubtedly worth it as the food is incredible, the service is great!

They have this lovely fountain out front of the hotel which is really quite beautiful and so relaxing.  I could’ve stood there for a very long time ( had it not been so cold 🙂 ) and just listen to the water and enjoy the sound.

And of course the night wouldn’t be complete without a waterfront stroll and take a minute to breathe and enjoy the view.  Waterfront viewAll in all a superb get away for an evening!  And while many of us were enjoying this long weekend I want to give a shout out to the staff and all those all those folks in the service industry that work the holidays making moment like this possible.
