Peanut butter and banana smoothie

Like many others I have gone on a smoothie kick and as much as much as I have cringed from time to time when adding ingredients I have to say that so far (operative words here..."so far" ;) ) they have all tasted amazing!! I am a huge proponent of smoothies as a snack for your little ones as it gives them all that good stuff they often don't want to otherwise eat.  And if they like Peanut butter and bananas....you're in like flint with this one! One thing I like to do because I like thicke...

Your story “will” heal…..

I start off with a heartfelt thank you to those of you reading this blog and to those who have had the courage to step forward and message me about the adoption-related posts.  You have taken the time and energy to step out of your comfort in touching base with me and sharing your stories.  I started adoption related postings; with the hopes that you may find even a small part of yourself here.  I am touched to know as well that there are others out there who have connected with the post(s)...

Heaven sent strength

In our childhood and teen years we went to a local Catholic school and church where there was a local family that was quite a large family in toll and over the years my brother “H” had developed and sustained a friendship with one of the fellows from this family.  For anonymity purposes we’ll call him “P”.    As the years went by my brother “H” has stayed local to where we grew up and has very strong friendships with all his childhood buds including “P” who later had met and married a gal “...

The journey of self discovery

Please indulge me while I clarify that personally in my life do not refer to my parents as my “Adoptive parents”; they are my “parents”.  I only use these terms throughout my posts so that you can follow the bouncing ball. ;)  From here forward I will use A.D. for Adoptive Parents, B.P. for Birth Parents. I mentioned in a previous post that I do not recall a time that I did not know I was adopted, but this is worth repeating.  I say this because over the years of doing adoption reunions there...

Cauliflower Veggie Pizza (gluten free or not-your choice!)

I’ve been a pretty quiet on the blog the last few weeks.  I've been trying to get my groove and keeps up on posts but then summer stepped in!  Between the busyness and the viruses it's certainly kept me off-line for the most part. You know how "they" always say that "its" going around; well I certainly hope that none of you or yours were privy to the "it" that went around this summer.  I have to say that was by far the most ill I've been in a very very long time.  A freaky viral thing that th...

Rock Glen – A great day trip!

From the waterfall he named her, Minnehaha, Laughing Water. ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow So who doesn't look for nice day trip getaways?  I think we all do and I'm happy to share this one with you.  I hadn't been here in quite a umber of years and last weekend I was looking for something to do outside of the usual things that seem to take up the weekend.  So off to Rock Glen it was but not before making a stop at this great little find in Forest.  Ill post about that soon for you!! R...

Gluten Free whole grain bread.

One of the things I miss the most since having gone gluten-free is a really good whole wheat bread.  Not just whole wheat bread but one that can be eaten fresh or toasted.  Well I have to say I've go t it!! Oh my gosh this is by far the best Ive made thus far...whole what that is.  It's got a really great texture so it doesn't fall apart as soon as you pick it up or in the toaster which as you know is not fun.  You're hungry and waiting for that piece of toast, up it pops and you go to grab ...

Heaven bound Father Day wishes to my father’s

It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father. ~ Pope John XXIII I don't know about you but I think that as an adoptee often we naturally go in search of our birth moms and our dads kind of come later.  We likely do this because we associate our Birth Mothers as the ones that birthed us and gave us up.  And I've been in the adoption triad long enough to know that there are many scenarios regarding ones relinquishment but I am just talking in the sense of how...

Gluten Free Crunchy Oat Bars (do not need to be gluten free if you prefer)

I've been know a time or two to cook when stressed (just a time or two ;) )  Truth be told it is an amazing stress reliever and something that I love to do.  So poking around in the kitchen certainly isn't a hardship for me. This is my first go at these and they turned out amazingly tasty1  If I was to change one thing that would be to not roll them out quite as thin as I did...close but not quite.  It just resulted in them cooking a little quicker than anticipated and I really prefer things ...

Happy Mother’s Day

One of the things I love most about what I do is meeting so many fabulous parents and getting to know so many moms and babes.  I have been so fortunate to meet many great moms along the way whether that be in my baby sign language classes, my workshops, through guest lecturing and/or working with those with barriers. Biological mom, foster mom, adoptive mom, legal guardian, Aunts....and any other woman who are the people who nurture, care and set an example for others ... Happy Mother's Day!...
