A great cause and an adventure all in one!

Another new adventure

Over the years with I have been fortunate enough to have worked with those with disabilities; differently abled children and adults as individuals as well as with families as a whole. To be able to work with them and give them a means of communication has truly been a blessing but now by taking part in the Easter Seals Drop Zone I am able to contribute in a different mode and am thrilled to do so!

For those of you that are not familiar with the Easter Seals “Easter Seals is dedicated to fully enhancing the quality of life, self-esteem and self-determination of Canadians with disabilities.””  So their cause is near and dear to me and I am grateful to be able to try and do something great for them.

In raising donations, and reaching a target goal they’ll challenge me to rappel the 26 stories of  One London Place.  So in order to do that of course they have training dates where they go through everything that takes place and they have you rappel there.  Now it’s not 26 stories, which one would think would be one of the main factors.  However I’ve got to say now having done it I personally find the challenge is walking to the top step and trying not to look down.  With much anticipation I can’t wait for “Shawn” to tell me to turn toward him.  Even though I know the next thing is stepping backward onto the rail I’m ready to just turn around. 🙂  It takes me a minute but I go through the process backing onto the rail and then “leaning” to find the natural position to begin the rappel.  Once I did that I was good to go and in fact did so a couple more times.

We were joking after about how it’s the least natural thing to do.  Your whole life you are taught not to play in traffic, look both ways before you cross the road, and don’t go near the edge!  Now we are defying laws of logic and not only going onto the edge but stepping off of it and backwards.  Lol

I’m so thankful to Stacey and the Easter Seals for giving me this opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and into the Drop Zone!  If you’d like to support the Easter Seals and my Drop Zone rappeling adventure please visit my page here.

I’m not sure if they offer this normally or just for the Drop Zone but a big shout out of thanks to Shawn and Justin form East Park for making it such a great experience!
